Crossing Over

The movie tells the journey of immigrants of different nationalities trying to enter Los Angeles in hope to achieve a legal status. In the movie we’ll get to see “behind the scenes” struggles of those trying to get across the border, document fraud, the clash of cultures, the office of counter terrorism, the green card process and more.

Crossing Over stars Harrison Ford, Ashley Judd,  Alice Braga, Ray Liotta and Summer Bishil, to name a few. The movie is written and directed by Wayne Kramer, whose credits include Blazeland (1992), The Cooler (2003) and Running Scared (2006).

Check out the trailer for Crossing Over below:

Now, that’s one movie that I don’t mind watching at all. Not to mention how much I adore Ashley Judd and Harrison Ford.

Additional info:  Crossing Over is a remake of a short drama (running time 35 minutes) of the same name, also directed by Wayne Kramer in 1996.

Two Lovers

I really adore Joaquin Phoenix and it was sometime last October when he announced his retirement from the movie industry to pursue his love for music - a passion he picked up when he portrayed the late Johnny Cash in “Walk The Line”, which, by the way I think he really played superbly.

Anyways, he announced that his last on-screen movie role would be his movie, Two Lovers, which Joaquin co-stars with Gwyneth Paltrow and Vinessa Shaw. The movie was premiered at the Cannes Fim Festival in 2008 to positive reviews.

Leonard (Joaquin Phoenix), a charismatic but troubled young man, moves back into his childhood home following a recent heartbreak. While recovering under the watchful eye of his parents, Leonard meets two women in quick succession: Michelle (Gwyneth Paltrow), a mysterious and beautiful neighbor who is exotic and out-of-place in Leonard’s staid world, and Sandra (Vinessa Shaw), the lovely and caring daughter of a businessman who is buying out his family’s dry-cleaning business. Leonard becomes deeply infatuated by Michelle, who seems poised to fall for him, but is having a self-destructive affair with a married man. At the same time, mounting pressure from his family pushes him towards committing to Sandra. Leonard is forced to make an impossible decision - between the impetuousness of desire and the comfort of love - or risk falling back into the darkness that nearly killed him. - Yahoo! Movies.
