Starring Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up, Grey’s Anatomy, 27 Dresses) and Gerard Butler (300, Butterfly on a Wheel, P.S. I Love You), the movie tells the story of Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl) a morning show producer, who reluctantly embroils is reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent, Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler) to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love.

I think we all know how this movie will end. As with, dare I say, ALL romantic comedies have had predictable endings, the fairytale romance, yada yada yada.. Well, everyone loves happy endings, don’t they? I think that’s why I loved “My Best Friend’s Wedding” starring Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney so much! It had a bittersweet ending but simply realistic.

Having said that, I don’t think this movie would be a complete bore, either. I expect it to be a predictable but enjoyable chick flick that we can drag our men to watch with us. With Gerard Butler’s chauvinistic character, I think they’d enjoy it too.

The Ugly Truth was originally set to have a spring release on the 3rd of April but instead will have a summer release, on 24th July 2009.
