Upcoming: Sherman’s Way (2008)

shermansway_galleryposter2.jpg

Sherman’s Way is an independent film about the life of uptight Yale law student, Sherman, who was advised by his girlfriend to take more chances in his life. Having followed his girlfriend’s advice and spontaneously follows his girlfriend to California’s Wine Country for the summer, he is then dumped and at the same time, cut off from his mother’s funds.

The upper class New York-raised Sherman then finds himself hitching a ride with Palmer, a 50-year old eccentric has-been Olympian. Their journey encounters unexpected detours and through it all, the unlikely pair learn a lot from each other - some of the things that Sherman never learned from his absent father.

This award-winning independent film stars James LeGros as Palmer, Michael Shulman as Sherman, Lacey Chabert as Marcy, Brooke Nevin as Addy and Donna Murphy as Evelyn Black. Directed by Craig M. Saveedra, this film won the Audience Award at the 2008 Newport International Film Festival. It is set to have a limited release on March 6th, 2009.

Cate Blanchett and Russell Crowe in new Robin Hood film

cate-blanchett.jpgglobe36_gallery__280x400.jpg

Cate Blanchett has just signed a deal to play Maid Marian in the big-screen remake of Robin Hood story which at this time, is tentatively called “Nottingham”. We don’t know whether that will stick, though. She will be playing opposite Russell Crowe and the movie will be directed by acclaimed director, Ridley Scott.

Apparently, Cate Blanchett was called in to replace Sienna Miller who was originally set to play Maid Marian but then dropped out due to “creative differences”. They definitely upgraded up! With Cate Blanchett in, it will bring the movie to a whole other level! The Oscar winner actress will definitely rake in the crowds! Not that I’m saying Russell Crowe isn’t a crowd puller, but yeah, you’ve got to admit, Cate Blanchett is pretty amazing!

It is not confirmed however, whether we will see Russell Crowe as Robin of Loxley or the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The movie which is said to have a $130 million budget will start production in April in London. The film is set for a 2010 release.

Upcoming: Phoebe in Wonderland (2008)

phoebeinwonderland_galleryposter.jpg

Phoebe in Wonderland is the story about a 9-year old girl who longs to star in her school’s production of Alice in the Wonderland. Her quirky teacher, Miss Dodger casts her in the role but Phoebe finds the seeminly rule-obsessed girl very difficult and stressful. As her stress begins to mount, it creates pressure for her mother Hillary. For Phoebe, the mounting stress makes her retreat more into an imaginary fantasy world of the characters of Alice in the Wonderland. With the help of Miss Dodger, Phoebe then undergoes an emotional and exhilarating transformation from the “oddball” to a confident young girl.

Phoebe in Wonderland is directed by Daniel Barnz and stars Dakota Fanning’s younger sister, Elle Fanning as Phoebe, Felicity Huffman as Phoebe’s mother, Hilary and Patricia Clarkson as Miss Dodger. It will have a limited theatrical release set for March 6, 2009.
