Daybreakers is an upcoming vampire film written and directed by brothers Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig who also directed Undead. The film was on time in September 2007 but reshoots are currently reoccuring to extend key sequences.
The story is set in 2019 and the undead far outnumber the living. A virus has spread across the earth, turning its inhabitants into vampires…. With their blood supply dwindling, the vampires must find a way to sustain their source of food. Meanwhile, a vampire researcher, Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke) works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind.
Willem Defoe (Spiderman, Inside Man, Mr Bean’s Holiday) plays the character of Elvis, a vampire who duels with Hawke’s character. Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, The Tudors) is Charles Bromley, a vampire in charge of a corporation. Claudia Karvan (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith) plays Lucy, Hawke’s love interest.
Last but not least, Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen) will play the character of Alison Bromley, the last surviving member of the human race.
