The Invention of Lying, previously titled, This Side of the Truth stars Ricky Gervais, also one of the directors and writers of this film. The film is about the life in an alternate reality where people just don’t lie nor are they familiar with the concept of lying. One day, a down-on-his-luck man, Mark Bellison (Ricky Gervais), creates the world’s first lie and gets away with it.
He continues on to lie and reaps the rewards of his dishonesty. However, all his lies make him face the truth when he is unable to lie to the woman he loves, Jennifer (Jennifer Garner).
