Rachelle Lefevre’s Response To ‘Eclipse’ Recasting: “I Was Stunned..”

rachelle-lefevre.jpg

Rachelle Lefevre, most widely known for her role as vampire baddie, Victoria, in the Twilight Saga, Twilight and New Moon, has been replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard, for the third movie, ‘Eclipse’.

Lefevre was “stunned” and “saddened” by Summit Entertainment’s decision to recast her role as Victoria - a character which she says she “loves and is passionate “about”. In a statement that she released, which can be found on Access Hollywood, she states:

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for ‘Eclipse.’

I was fully committed to the Twilight’saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules.

My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.

I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the ‘Twilight’hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of ‘Eclipse’ only the very best.” audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am

Rachelle Lefevre has also taken to her Twitter account, saying: “Thank you for all your support!! I love you guys. My full statement is available for viewing at www.accesshollywood.com.”

As I mentioned before, I am also saddened by the recent recasting news. I could see Rachelle Lefevre bringing out the whole nine yard of evil in “Eclipse” which she plays a main component of the movie. It definitely is a shame to see her go.

However, I guess now all we can do is wait and see how it goes with Bryce Dallas Howard. We might be in for a pleasant surprise!

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse starts shooting on August 17th, 2009 and is set for release on June 30th, 2010.

Bryce Dallas Howard Replaces Rachelle Lefevre in “Eclipse”

bryce-dallas-rachelle-lefevre.jpg

Summit Entertainment has announced their decision to replace Rachelle Lefevre, in the upcoming third installment of the Twilight Saga, Eclipse with Bryce Dallas Howard. Rachelle Lefevre WILL NOT be reprising her role as “vampire baddie” Victoria due to the actress’ scheduling conflict.

bryce-dallas.jpg

Bryce Dallas Howard ( 28 year-old daughter of director Ron Howard), most known for her roles in movies such as M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Village” and “Lady In The Water” and the more recent “Terminator Salvation”, will be replacing Lefevre.

Having a character change in a major movie franchise is always frustrating for the film’s fans and always tricky to pull off especially when you’re dealing with loyal fans. However, I believe that Summit Entertainment is convinced that the movie’s fan base is already strong enough to withstand the change. I honestly am really sorry to see Rachelle Lefevre leave the movie, as I could already picture her in her major shining moment as I was reading “Eclipse”. I don’t doubt that she can act, but how will she stack up against fans of Rachelle Lefevre?

CONGRATULATIONS!!
