Ed Westwick and Gemma Arterton is set to star in an upcoming production of Wuthering Heights based on the 1847 novel by Emily Brontë or under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. Ed Westwick will play the character of Heathcliff while Gemma Arterton will play the character of Catherine Earnshaw.

Directed by Peter Webber and screenplay by Olivia Hetreed, Wuthering Heights is planned to be released in 2010. So far, no other cast members have been named for this production. The film, as per the book, will be about a poor young English boy named Heathcliff is taken in by the wealthy Earnshaw family where he develops an intense relationship with his young foster sister, Cathy.

Ed Westwick is widely known for his character Chuck Bass in CW’s series, Gossip Girl. Meanwhile the 23-year old Gemma Arterton made her mark in the 2008 Bond movie, Quantum of Solace as Agent Strawberry Fields. Ed Westwick is currently dating fellow Gossip Girl cast member Jessica Szohr, while Gemma Arterton recently announced her engagement to stuntman Stefano who acted as the 007 body double for Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace. Arterton will be seen in the upcoming Prince Of Persia, Clash of The Titans, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, and St. Trinians: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold.

I am one of those very few who HAVEN’T read Wuthering Heights but I am really excited to see these two beautiful English actors on screen!! Can’t wait!
