Cougar Town is a new tv sitcom from ABC which centers around a newly divorced woman, Jules Cobb (Courtney Cox), who is trying to re-enter the dating scene only to find that the only available men are much younger than her. With her two best friends supporting her, she embarks on a journey to self discovery and the world of dating younger men while maintaining a balance at home as mother to a 17-year old son and her job as a real estate agent.

Cougar Town premiered on ABC on September 23rd 2009 and airs every Wednesday nights at 9.30pm.

The cast of Cougar Town comprises of:

Courtney Cox plays the lead character of Jules Cobbs. Jules spent her 20s raising a child and married to Bobby. She tries to relive her 20s and make up for lost time by dating younger men.

Christa Miller (The Drew Carey Show, Scrubs) plays the part of Jules’ old time best friend, Ellie Torres, while Busy Philipps (White Chicks, He’s Just Not That Into You) is Jules’ much younger best friend at work, Laurie Keller.

Dan Byrd plays Jules’ 17-year old, awkward and nerdy son Travis Cobbs, and Josh Hopkins plays Jules’ good looking and also recently divorced neighbor, Grayson Ellis.

Other recurring roles so far are Ian Gomez (Ellie’s husband, Andy), Brian Van Holt (Jules’ ex-husband, Bobby Cobb) and Nick Zano as Josh, a 20 something stud who begins dating Jules.

Verdict: Well, despite what some people are saying about Cougar Town, I find it really hilarious.. it’s fresh and entertaining. Pretty much bordering on desperation but that’s what’s endearing and charming about it. Courtney Cox did bring a little bit of Monica with her as Jules Cobb, and that’s something I think fans of Friends will like to see.

I’m not sure how it fares with the male audience but I think of all the new shows that premiered, this is one of my guilty pleasures. As of today, there’s only been 7 episodes, and I look forward to new episodes each week! Two thumbs up!
