Kat Dennings Join Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman in Thor (2011)

There’s been a lot of talk with the upcoming Marvel comic adaptation of the winged-helmet hero, hammer wielding, Thor. Actor/director Kenneth Branagh (who acted as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets),  is directing his first comic adaptation and it seems to be attracting a lot of attention.

The latest casting news for Thor, include Kat Dennings, although it’s not clear what role she will play.. There was a recent casting call for the role of “Marcy Lewis” though. Could this possibly be it?

Thor - Official Casting Call

[MARCY LEWIS]

(20) Is a college student. Aloof, jaded beyond her years, she thought her internship with scientist Kate Spelling would be an easy 6 college credits. However, she’s been stuck for months in this small New Mexico town and relegated to a wide range of unglamorous activities. Kate has been particularly hard on Marcy, making it her personal project to see that Marcy lives up to her potential. Marcy deals with her situation both by using subtle irony and by being an overt wiseass.

So far the cast of Thor are:

Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano will be the Warriors Three. The Warriors Three is made up of the Asgardians - Fandral, Volstagg and Hogun who fight alongside Thor.

Idris Elba will be playing Heimdall, the guardian of the mythical world of Asgard, who stands on the BiFrost Bridge ready to defend the city from intruders. Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson would be playing the role of agent Nick Fury. Besides, Thor, Mr Jackson will also be playing the role of Nick Fury in other Marvel films, such as Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Captain America and so on.

Tom Hiddleston will be playing the villain, Loki and Jaimie Alexander will take on the role of Sif, an Asgardian warrior who also shares Thor’s love interest, but whose strength should not be underestimated by any man.

Apparently Colm Feore and Stellan Skarsgard are also cast although the roles that they would be playing, it seems are kept under wraps.

The story follows the Norse god Thor, whose cocky, arrogant attitude sparks an ancient war causing him to be cast to Earth as punishment. Only when the most dangerous villain of Thor’s world sends the dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth does Thor realize what it takes to step up and be a real hero.

Thor is set to start filming in January 2010 and has a release date set for May 20th, 2011.
