From the writer of The Fugitive (1993) and director of The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), David Twohy brings another suspense/thriller film, A Perfect Getaway, coming our way this August.

The film is about a young couple, Cliff (Steve Zahn) and Cydney (Milla Jovovich) who decide to go backpacking in one of Hawaii’s most remote islands for their honeymoon. Upon arriving, it seems like a paradise and the destination of their dreams, until they meet 2 other couples who told them about their discovery of another newlywed couple on the island. Unsure about whether they should stay or leave, they soon find out something more horrifying that will turn paradise into hell. Out of contact from civilization, they need to find a way out and battle for their survival..

I can’t wait to check out this film! I have a love-hate relationship with movies of this genre and plot. I hate to watch it because I think the plots are fairly predictable but at the same time I just love suspense/thriller films. Besides, it doesn’t hurt to have Chris Hemsworth in this movie. Yes, he recently made his big break as Captain Kirk Sr on the latest Star Trek movie and he is just one absolutely gorgeous Aussie!!

I’m loving that Steve Zahn is back working on many more projects. His latest was his role as a motel manager in Management opposite Jennifer Anniston and we can expect to see many more of him, as he has several movies lined up well into 2010.

As for the men out there, you can definitely appreciate Milla Jovovich’s comeback to the big screen.. I don’t think we’ve seen her much since Resident Evil: Extinction in 2007.

I also hope that this will be a big break for Kiele Sanchez who has made numerous appearances mainly on TV series.. Those who watch Lost may recognize her as Nikki Fernandez in a couple of episodes. Her character was the partner in crime/love interest to Rodrigo Santoro’s character, Paulo. Her last movie, Insanitarium received bad reviews and let’s hope this movie will put her into the limelight.

Anyways, let’s just hope that it won’t become another tacky, corny suspense thriller a la House of Wax!
