Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is a timeless tale adapted by Sony Pictures Animation from Ron and Judi Barrett’s book of the same namewhich illustrates a world where giant pancakes and pasta fall from the sky as a scientist tries to solve world hunger. Ryan Reynolds Cast as The Green Lantern

ryan_reynolds.jpghal-jordan-green-lantern.jpg

Ryan Reynolds has officially landed the role of Warner Bros.’ upcoming live-action adaption of the DC comics superhero, Hal Jordan ( an Air Force pilot who is chosen by a dying alien to be his successor in an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns) in The Green Lantern. Reynolds reportedly beat out Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake, among others, who were also vying for the role. Apparently, Reynolds screen tested twice before the official decision was made.

Ryan Reynolds has become a fast rising star since his performance as Wade Wilson/Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine that came out in May and has led to Fox creating a Deadpool spinoff. Personally though, I have mixed feelings of having double superhero comic characters by one actor.. Well, technically Deadpool isn’t quite THE superhero.. more like antihero.. but still.

Anyways, if they’re looking for witty personality, charming, and muscular physique, then I can’t argue there.. Ryan Reynolds definitely is the man for the job. I am pretty excited to see how it turns out, though.

Casino Royale’s Martin Cambell is slated to direct The Green Lantern in January 2010 and expected release will be July 17, 2011.

Reynolds was recently seen alongside Sandra Bullock in The Proposal which hit big with $100 million at the box office and will also be starring in an upcoming psychological thriller, Buried.

Upcoming: Monsters Vs. Aliens (2009)

monsters_vs_aliens.jpg

DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Productions presents Monsters Vs. Aliens, a 3-D feature film about a little girl, Susan Murphy, who turns into a monster (Ginormica) after getting hit by meteorite. She is then captured and taken to a secret government compound to be placed in confinement where she meets more ragtag monsters that were rounded up over the years.

When a mysterious alien robot lands on earth and starts to create havoc on the country, these monsters’ confinement is cut short and it is up to them to take the alien down and save the country and the world from imminent destruction.

This is the first animation ever to be created in full 3-D instead of converting the film into 3-D after it’s finished.

Voice Cast:
Reese Witherspoon - Voice of Susan Murphy / Ginormica
Hugh Laurie - Voice of Dr. Cockroach Ph.D.
Seth Rogen - Voice of B.O.B.
Paul Rudd - Voice of Derek
Will Arnett - Voice of The Missing Link
Rainn Wilson - Voice of Gallaxhar
Kiefer Sutherland - Voice of General W.R. Monger
Stephen Colbert - Voice of The President of the United States

The release date for Monsters Vs. Aliens has been brought forward to March 27th 2009 from May 2009 to prevent competition with James Cameron’s upcoming, Avatar.
