The Planet Earth

Published by shemah under DVD/Blu Ray, Documentary Edit This

I was watching the award winning BBC Documentary, The Planet Earth (narrated by David Attenborough) last night. My older sister and her friend brought over the DVD box set and there we were. 3 grown adults watching The Planet Earth with full concentration.. and at times, laughing out loud as if we were watching Chevy Chase in The Three Amigos.

There were parts that made us laugh and parts that made us want to cry. Shot in high definition, the cinematography is out of this world. Amazing to say the least. From the shots of the African hunting dogs hunting down the impala (excellent scene!) to the exploration of one of the most beautiful caves in the world, The Lechuguilla Cave. It brings you to places you’ve never seen before - never imagined that such a place exists, even - and it shows you sounds and sights that you will never have experienced anywhere else in your lifetime.

The soundtrack to the documentary, composed by George Fenton and performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra was nothing short of excellence. Beautiful indeed!

The 5 disc DVD has no been re-released in the form of a 4-disc HD DVD box set and also the 4-disc Blu Ray Disc box set.  If you’re looking for a great DVD to watch with the family, I’m saying this is it! I think this one will keep everyone enthralled rather than having your family fight over what movie you would like to watch. For once, even my 4 year old son didn’t care that we watched this in favour of Playhouse Disney.

So if you haven’t already watched it, go get your hands on it today!
